Our deck of nearly 35 years needed a replacement. It had lasted as long as it did due to the craftsmanship of the installer that did things the old school way. Spoiled by being raised by a master carpenter who is no longer with us, my expectations are high on anything construction related. When we started searching for a contractor we knew we wanted to try to find someone who also had the thought process of high quality and old school craftsmanship. One of the places we called said they didn't do decks anymore, but without hesitation recommended that our next call be to Russ at Top Deck. From our first conversations and site visit, we knew we had our builder and the search stopped right there - Top Deck was hired. The wait list was long, but we knew that was worth it because a contractor who's booked out and doesn't need to advertise due to word of mouth and high praise being enough to get their calendar booked up is a huge green flag. Even while we patiently waited for our turn, Russ was always in communication with us making additional site visits whenever we had a question or a change in design idea to talk it through. He and and his crew, Dan, Rusty and another gentleman that I did not catch his name were always there when they said they would be and did a fantastic job. They checked with us on final placement of stairs, posts, trellis vs. open walls, etc. as elements were scheduled to go in to ensure the design was still what we wanted and visioned as the project progressed and explained any code requirements to us so we could always make informed choices. The job lasted exactly as long as they thought it would, even with a couple bad weather days and waiting on an inspector for an extra day. Russ and his team went above and beyond even moving a couple plants out of the way and to a new spot in the yard with their equipment and hauling off some extra lumber that we hadn't had time to discard from our demolition phase (we demolished the old deck ourselves). We were also scheduled to have a fence installed by Bristol Fencing and the schedule overlapped a day or two and they were all able to work around one another seamlessly. Everyone that has seen the deck is blown away at how great it turned out and we are very happy! This is truly an extension of our home and the added space to relax and entertain has been worth the wait. We would recommend Top Deck to anyone in a heartbeat and should we need anything else done that falls in Top Deck's wheelhouse, we'd gladly have them back to do other projects.

Russ and his crew did an absolutely amazing job building a stairway down to the water level from our yard. The stairway has turned out gorgeous and is extremely stable. I can see why he is booked with projects for many months out but it sure was worth every bit of the wait. He even finished the project 2-3 days ahead of time. Russ is extremely easy to talk to and is just a good stand-up person. Life would be so much easier if I could find a contractor like him for all my other house projects. I highly recommend Top Deck, Russ and his crew.

Russ and his crew did a phenomenal job building our deck! They paid attention to a lot of little details and were accommodating to my requests. I would highly recommend top deck to anyone! While his quote was a little higher than others and had to wait for few months, it was well worth the extra cost and wait to get the quality deck and installation that we received. Our deck was 14’x22’ with a 4’ wide staircase. Trex composite materials Toasted Sand color with Bronze railings (Williams Railing). Love our new deck!

Russ was great to work with from start to finish and built us a beautiful cedartone deck with his crew. The process was very straightforward and communication was great. The deck is very high quality and I trust that it will hold up for a very long time!
