It was our first time working with Associated Housewrights. We were referred by our friends, who had their basement remodeled by them about a year ago. We had previously consulted with Basement Matrix, but their designer was very rude and the pricing was far over our budget. In contrast, Associated Housewrights provided a great design at a reasonable price. We are very happy we chose to work with their team. One of our project managers, Matt, visited our home to discuss the floor plan and our expectations. He and his team then developed a design plan that truly met what we were looking for. Because we started the project near the end of September, the weather was somewhat unpredictable. However, the basement remodeling was still completed on time. Our onsite project manager, Nick, communicated with us very smoothly throughout the process and checked the work site frequently to make sure everything stayed on schedule. He also reminded us of all the important city inspection dates. In addition, Nick made sure our floors were well protected and that dust control were in place to protect our basement storage. We absolutely love how the basement turned out!It looks fantastic! They are the best people to contact if you’re looking for a high-quality remodeling project. We’re enjoying our basement every day. Thank you so much! -Hong

Had a GREAT experience working with Associated Housewrights on our new sunroom addition. From the moment we sat down with them to explain our vision they really put an emphasis on listening to us and understanding our wants and needs. Working through the design felt collaborative; they were really receptive to our many "could we do this?" ideas. We have a historic, uniquely built home and they really took the time to understand it to maintain both engineering/construction integrity as well as a historical/aesthetic integrity. The construction process went very smoothly. There were a few unforeseen delays here and there (as is the nature with large projects), but overall the project progressed very close to the original timeline. Our project manager Brad was SUPER communicative and kept us in the loop the whole way. I never felt like I had to wonder what was going on. All of the crew were very respectful and we never had an issue with any of them. Brad and Boone also brought a reassuring attention to detail; they noticed the occasional imperfection (even those I missed) and approached them with an attitude of "that doesn't meet our standard, we're going to fix it." That was SO refreshing - they really seemed to care about our home as if it were there own. At the end of the project, we were left with a stunning new space that we absolutely love. Would highly recommend working with Associated Housewrights, and we plan to again whenever we start our next renovation.

We never get tired of hearing neighbors compliment our home addition! It is such a good feeling to live in a home where you have confidence in the quality and craftsmanship. Matt was our PM and working with him made all the difference. He has a ton of experience and knowledge - from small details like picture frame deck boards on our front porch to solid advice on windows that we love, Matt took great care of us.

Associated Housewrights = Outstanding craftsmanship executed with care and the ability to take your vision and bring it to life! We had a complete kitchen and bathroom remodel and are thrilled beyond belief with the outcome! Associated Housewrights listens. They ask the right questions. They won't push their agenda on you. They have the ability to take your vision and create an outstanding end result. The entire process took about 5-6 months, and we were prepared to live in a construction zone, but they helped make it a seamless transition, allowing us to feel comfortable along the way. We couldn't be happier with the team, the artistry, and workmanship. It was important for us to keep some of the 1920's aesthetic in our lovely home and marry that with new and updated finishes and design. They did just that! They are true collaborators and will help guide along the way but allow your involvement and creativity to be a part of the process. Mike Walsh, our PM, was an outstanding partner and now lifelong friend. Thank you Associated Housewrights for your amazing partnership and ability to bring to life the kitchen and bathroom of our dreams!

We had a remodel/addition project planned for late 2024 into early 2025 -- adding two bedrooms and a bathroom to our >100 year old arts and crafts style home. We choose Housewrights for their strong reputation and happily paid a premium for what we hoped to be a positive experience and high-quality outcome. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. Several members of the Housewrights team were exceptional including Meri, Steve, Boone, and nearly every carpenter we welcomed into our home. Housewrights fell down on project management -- perhaps a growing pain with the recent elevation of star-performers into ownership roles? A few specifics - Project lasted nearly 3x longer than planned. - Tile sub inappropriately tiled our bathroom 3 times -- each major error found by us. After 3 attempts and flooding our kitchen under the bathroom once, we insisted Housewrights find another sub. This resulted in a complete tear-out and redo of our bathroom. - After the final tile work was complete, our heated floors had cold spots. Housewrights insisted there wasn't an issue and requested payment for the heated floors. I personally engaged the tile sub and heating floor company and they both agreed there was a mistake with the installation. - Mid-project, our Project Manager left and we were told by a subcontractor. Upon request, we were assigned a new project manager who was new to Housewrights and unable to manage us or our project effectively. - More than one sub voiced to us their frustration in working with Housewrights and their lack of response. - On too many occasions, we found an error/mistake (vs Housewrights) and had to be firm, even a bit aggressive, for them to make it right. - Our new bathroom does not look new as it still shows the ware and tear of being put back together after needing to be retiled. Housewrights has sent someone out to address these issues 4x since the bathroom has been completed. Each time, the project manager attests the work is up to snuff and later agrees the work was incomplete. Overall, a disappointing outcome and experience -- especially given the premium cost they demand.
