If you want a company that treats your street like a construction sandbox and your driveway like collateral damage, MJ Construction is a perfect fit. They tore up our driveway and left it looking like a trench – see attached photo. At one point, they piled dirt and snow across the approach so my car was literally blocked in and I couldn’t leave. No door hanger, no knock, no direct notice of any kind that access would be completely cut off, even temporarily. When they came back, they didn’t actually finish the work. They just smoothed out the dirt from the day before and left a big, uneven lip where the road meets the driveway. It’s exactly the kind of half-done transition that can scrape the bottom of a car, catch a snowblower, or cause someone to slip. To make it worse, they’re supposedly paving with temperatures in the teens. Anyone who lives here knows how that usually goes: rushed, brittle work that doesn’t last, on top of already rough prep. What I’ve personally seen over and over is a “supervisor” truck driving around the site while other vehicles just sit parked for long stretches, with people sitting inside for hours and not much visible progress being made. From a resident’s point of view, it looks disorganized and inefficient on top of everything else. From my experience, MJ Construction shows: Poor planning No meaningful communication with residents Careless handling of driveways and access

They are contracted by the city for sewer line work and are constantly parking in alley and blocking driveways and garages without giving any notice to homeowners and no one around in the truck to ask them to move. They have an entire road shut down that is empty that they could park this equipment on.

At least one of their large equipment trailers do not have functioning brake lights or turn signals as required by law. That is an irresponsible hazard on the public roads. If you see them report them before they get somebody killed. If this is how they approached one of their major pieces of equipment I can't imagine how they would be on the job.

We are a general contractor, and they submitted a low bid. Then, when we sent them a subcontract, they refused to sign. I asked them to let me know what they took exception to, and we could discuss it, but they refused. They underbid the project and left us holding the bag. We have talked to legal counsel are still considering sueing them. The next highest bid was substantially more money, so a lawsuit is not out of the question because the damages they caused are over $100,000 at this point. You have been warned.

The city hired them to come do some work on pipes. They ripped up our driveway and told us it’d be fixed in 5-7 days. It’s been three weeks and our driveway is still ripped up. It is impossible to get ahold of anyone. My fiancé and I have called time and time again leaving messages with no response. Not to mentioned that when they did do work on day one all the men were smoking near the open door and around our driveway, left our basement in shambles after moving stuff around and nearly damaging a guitar by placing a box on its neck. I am beyond disappointed with their work ethic, communication, and overall service. If I could rate them a 0 I would. UPDATE: it’s been another two weeks. Our driveway is still ripped up.
